It’s back for the 11th year! For Sisters Only 2010 will hit Charlotte on May 22 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Brought to life by two of the most powerful radio stations in the Southeast, FSO is the largest annual African American entertainment and empowerment expo in the Carolinas.

Tickets are on sale now thru Ticketmaster and will also be sold at the door. Tickets cost $20, plus applicable service charges.

Doors open at 9:30 a.m. 

Featured keynote speaker is Shirley Strawberry from the nationally syndicated Steve Harvey Morning Show!

The custody and immigration status of a young Cuban boy, Elián González (born December 6, 1993), was at the center of a heated controversy in 2000 involving the governments of Cuba and the United States, his father, Juan Miguel González Quintana, his Miami and Cuban relatives, and the Cuban American community of Miami. González emigrated from Cuba to the US together with his mother. His mother didn’t survive the trip, his father in Cuba wanted his son back to Cuba, while his relatives in the US wanted him to stay. A district court’s ruling that the Miami relative could not petition for asylum on the boy’s behalf was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, and after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear the case, Elian Gonzalez was returned to Cuba in April of 2000.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court won’t hear an appeal from Lupe’s mentor, who was convicted on drug charges despite complaints that his jurors weren’t asked whether they had any biases against firearms.

The high court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Charles Patton, the Olympia Fields man who was convicted and sentenced to 44 years in prison on drug charges.
He appealed his conviction, saying that jurors weren’t questioned by his trial judge on whether they had any bias against firearms.
Patton had a loaded firearm when he was arrested.The Illinois Appellate Court threw out the appeal, saying the judge did not have to ask about potential firearm bias on his own.

  • 2-3 years of related  work experience.

  • Must be available for frequent domestic and international travel. Must have valid passport, and must complete any additional paperwork necessary for government travel clearances.
  • Final candidates will be interviewed in New York City as part of a news segment on a national TV network morning show on or about May 17-20, 2010, and in London, UK at the Black Ball on or about May 27, 2010. Candidates must be able to travel to and participate in the interviews.
  • Submit to a thorough background and reference check. 
  • This is a permanent, full-time position. Career contractors will not be considered.
  • Must be willing and able to report to work in New York City, NY. Relocation costs not covered by employer.
